How to install the RETRO-PAR LED retrofit in a PAR fixture
In this video, Canto USA General Manager John Luhrs shows how to install the RETRO-PAR into a compatible PAR fixture. The demonstration uses a PAR 56 with a tall reflector, and the transcript notes that the RETRO-PAR can also be used with a short reflector depending on the application.
The walkthrough begins by removing the top cover, unplugging the PAR socket, taking out the retaining ring, and removing the PAR lamp. It also notes that the wire mesh included in the units should be removed and discarded for this installation.
Next, the RETRO-PAR is placed into the fixture, the retaining ring is reinstalled to hold it in place, and the bi-pin connector is attached. The fixture is then reassembled with the top cover back in place to complete the installation.
This short reference video is useful for anyone who needs a clear look at the basic RETRO-PAR installation process inside a PAR-style fixture.

In this segment we will be discussing the installation of the RETRO-PAR. Which comes standard as a PAR 46, PAR 56, PAR 64, or with the PAR 38 medium screw base. The example here is a PAR 56 with the tall reflector. You can either use it with a tall reflector or a short reflector. It all depends on your application. So, here on the table is a standard PAR 56 unit. I'm going to remove the top cover and unplug the PAR socket, put that to the side, remove the PAR retaining ring, put that to the side, and of course remove the PAR lamp. For this demonstration I have already removed the wire mesh that comes standard in all the units. In case this lamp breaks it retains the glass. So, you will need to remove that and discard it. Take your RETRO-PAR and put it into your fixture. It drops right in just like the par lamp you removed. Take your retaining ring and put that in as well. That holds the fixture into place. Pull up your female connector, take your bi-pin connector, install it, and then all you have to do is put the fixture back together with the top in place. There you go. Done.
