How to replace the lamp in a Canto FastFit side lamp holder
In this walkthrough, Shawn Harmon of Canto USA demonstrates the basic process for replacing the FF lamp in a Canto FastFit followspot with a side lamp holder. The video begins with an important safety step: disconnect power before working inside the fixture.
Shawn shows how to identify the FastFit version by the side plate, then remove the lamp access plate with a flat blade screwdriver using the quarter-turn fasteners. From there, the old lamp can be removed and a new lamp installed.
The replacement process includes handling the lamp carefully, avoiding the glass envelope, and aligning the fat pin and skinny pin with the matching slots inside the fixture. Once the lamp is fully seated, it must be turned until it clicks into place.
After the lamp is secured, the access plate is reinstalled and the video closes with a reminder to recycle lamps responsibly and contact a Canto dealer or Canto directly with questions.

Hi! Shawn Harmon with Canto USA today to talk to you about replacing the FF lamps in your Canto followspots. The first thing you're going to want to do is disconnect power. Never try to operate any setting anything inside the fixture with the power in. We always want to make sure we're working in a safe environment. The easiest way to tell if it's a FastFit unit or not is that it has a side plate where that lamp is going to go. The MSRs have a thing on the bottom, that's a different video than this one. So, this is for the FastFit. To do this you're going to need a trusty flat blade screwdriver. We're just gonna remove this, two quarter turns on these screws, the plates going to come off. That's going to show you the back end of the lamp. It's just really easy, you can use your fingers and give that a little turn to the left, like that. We're gonna pull the lamp out and then we're ready to put a new lamp in. So, once we have our new lamp we want to do a couple of things. Never touch the glass envelope, if you touch that it's gonna lower the lamp life. Secondly, if you'll notice on the FastFit lamps they have a fat pin and a skinny pin and then on the inside of the fixture there's a fat slot in a skinny slot. We want to put likes together. So, we're gonna put the lamp straight in, not touching the glass envelope, and then once it's pushed all the way in we're gonna give it a turn to the right. We're gonna feel it click. If you just push it in and leave it like that it is not going to work. It has to go all the way over and click into place. It's not multiple screws it's just a click, okay. Then we're gonna replace our plate. A quarter turn here, a quarter turn there. Now your lamp is replaced. Be sure to recycle your lamps in a responsible way. Don't throw them in the trash, they are dangerous. Thank you for watching this video! If you have any questions about anything that we've covered please feel free to reach out to a Canto dealer or to us directly. Thank you very much have a great day!
