How to install a RETRO unit with an E11 stem
In this video, John Luhrs from Canto USA shows how to install a RETRO-Classic® or RETRO-Passive® unit with a mini-candelabra E11 stem into a compatible pendant can. The demonstration uses an RC 90 fixture and explains the parts involved, including the stem, reflector, trim ring, and safety cable.
The installation begins by inserting the fixture through the bottom of the can and threading it into the socket clockwise until it seats properly. John notes that the stem is only 1/2 inch in diameter, so careful handling is important to avoid snapping it during installation.
After the unit is snug in place, the safety cable is attached with the supplied number 6 self-tapping screw. The finished setup is shown at the end so technicians can see the intended installed position and connection points.

Hi! I'm John with Canto USA and today we are going to teach you how to install a RETRO unit with a mini candelabra stem into a fixture. First let's examine the pendant cans you're going into. For this exercise here this is a RC 90 with a mini candelabra base, reflector, trim ring that has been cut out so you can see. This is your RETRO unit with a 2 and 3/4 inch mini candelabra stem 15-degree reflector. As you can see here is your safety cable that will be attached after you do the installation. So, the first thing you want to do is grab the fixture like this, insert it through the bottom of the can, and into the socket spinning it clockwise until it seats into the socket. You need to be very careful when you do this because the stem is only 1/2 inch in diameter and it is very easy to snap it if you put too much pressure on it. So, once you do that, just snug it up and it will look like this once it's installed. Once that is installed, then you will take your safety cable with a supplied number 6 self-tapping screw and attach this cable to anywhere on the fixture to prevent it from falling in case something happens. This is what it will look like once you're complete.
